Specifies safe work practices to prevent electric shock and other injuries when employees work on or near electrical conductors or circuit parts. Live parts must be deenergized before work unless deenergizing introduces greater hazards or is infeasible. When equipment is deenergized, lockout and tagout procedures must be followed and verification performed. For work near energized parts, only qualified persons may perform the work, with appropriate clearance from overhead lines, and conductive items such as jewelry must be controlled.
